For decades, the University of Arizona golf teams played at different courses all over Tucson while preparing for competition. During recent years a number of graduates from these teams have achieved notoriety as pros, including the likes of Don Pooley, Jim Furyk, Annika Sorenstam, and Lorena Ochoa, to name a few. But the team really never had a place to call home.

All that changed in June of 2002, when I. R. I. Golf Group purchased the Raven Golf Club at Sabino Springs and renamed it Arizona National Golf Club, Home of the Arizona Wildcats. The agreement with the University of Arizona makes the property the official course of the Wildcat golf teams. In addition to the course, the teams utilize Arizona Nation Golf Club’s teaching and instructional center, which has some of the country’s most up-to-date, state-of-the-art video teaching facilities. Various nationally recognized golf schools are hosted at the teaching and instructional center each year, as well as private and group lessons for members, guests, and public golfers.

ARIZONA NATIONAL GOLF CLUBArizona National Golf Club is a spectacular course and has drawn praise on both local and national levels, having been rated one of the Top 100 Courses in the US by Golf Magazine.

Most recently the club’s 18th hole was named in the Top Ten Great Holes by the Arizona Daily Star. The 18th fairway rises high above the valley floor, and the view of one of Tucson’s most spectacular golf courses is unparalleled. Golf at Arizona National includes panoramic mountain vistas, forests of giant saguaros, and the rare beauty of nine natural springs.

Arizona National meanders among the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, across shady mesquite-lined arroyos and craggy rock outcroppings. Its diverse 6,785-yard layout allows classic golf-in-the-desert challenges.

Arizona National Golf Club offers desert golf at its finest. The Robert Trent Jones Jr. design has earned numerous awards in addition to the Golf Magazine designation, including the Top Golf Course in Tucson as reported by the Arizona Republic. From tee to green, the views from atop the 18th fairway stretch all the way to Mexico, creating a panoramic backdrop of Southern Arizona.

Arizona National’s clubhouse and tournament pavilion are great locations for special events, corporate outings, and private parties. The facility can accommodate up to 300 guests with full catering and event planning available. The remodeled clubhouse boasts a new retail pro shop and a Champion’s Room, featuring an impressive display of Wildcat history. You’ll find the tour bags for Annika Sorenstam, Jim Furyk, and Ricky Barnes, as well as the three NCAA National Championship trophies, and other Wildcat memorabilia.

Alumni and fans of the U of A golf teams will appreciate the Wildcat Wall of Fame, located at the 18th green just off the main concourse. The wall commemorates the excellence in golf attained by U of A golf teams over the years, including individual winners and team championships, and acknowledges those who continued on to enjoy successful professional careers.

Arizona National’s incredible views, coupled with championship golf, and first-class service, can easily entice golfers of all skill levels into planning many return visits.
