Firm and fast in an unencumbered area of the city, this low-lying inland links-style layout from the Nicklaus Design Group stands out. Architect Bill O'Leary designed the 36 holes at Bear Creek Golf Club to entice players of every skill level.

Bear Creek is a partnership between the City of Chandler, Maricopa County, and a private developer to create and promote fun, affordable golf for players of all ages. Open since 2000, the par-71, 6,825-yard Bear course earned accolades for its challenge to top players. Home to the annual Chandler City Amateur Championship and a host of Arizona Golf Association qualifying events, the Bear can bite back with challenging approaches to subtly contoured greens and devilish bunkering. Water comes into play on Bear Creek's two signature holes—the 179-yard par-3 Number 5 and the sweeping 558-yard par-5 Number 18.

With the two nines on the Bear now back to O'Leary's original configuration, a round on either course ends in front of the clubhouse.

The executive length par-59 Cub course plays to 3,501 yards, and is an ideal setting for juniors and beginners. The Cub features five par 4s and 13 par 3s of varying yardage that allow players to use every club in the bag.

The new family tees on the Cub allow junior golfers ages 10 and under to play the course from an appropriate length. Family Golf Day, every Sunday on the Cub Course, allows each paid adult to bring one child age 16 and under to play free.

The Bear Creek Golf Academy's PGA teaching pros offer individual and group lessons on the complete practice and learning center with full grass driving range, two putting greens, and a short-game area. They also offer junior golf programming.

Inside the clubhouse, the Bear's Den restaurant and bar and the golf shop add to the experience.
